A New Year, A New Wardrobe

Christmas may be over, your purse may be empty and your new year’s health kick may already be struggling, but with the high street offering some of its best ever January sales, there’s never been a better time to pick up some fashion bargains.

Pulling out all the stops for the winter party season, designer favourites all launched mini collections within the autumn/winter seasonal trends, many of which you can now pick up at a massively reduced price, which should really help to fend off those January blues!

Dresses were the backbone of this mini, micro trend and what a selection you have to choose from. Warehouse has a particularly good range of party dresses, many of which you can now pick up with nearly 70% off the price tag.

Here’s our pick of three of the best dress trends that are just perfect for any evening occasion!

Seventies disco diva

The days of disco were about flowing chiffon and silk, faux-fur jackets and metallic accessories. Accessories and heels were big and hair was even bigger. One of the best dresses from Warehouse that fits this trend is the Brazil Halter Maxi. This floor length, vivid green halter-style maxi dress is perfect. The waist is pinched in and the back has a large cut-out section, which is both elegant and sexy. Add a skinny metallic belt, some gold platforms, a cuff bracelet and large drop earrings and you’ll have this trend nailed.

Was £90, now £55.

Seventies glam rock

The glam rock scene of the 1970s was about making a statement and the Sequin One Shoulder Dress from Warehouse (pictured) certainly does that. Its shimmering gold colour made from thousands of sequins combined with the one-shoulder strap and slightly tulip-shaped skirt mean this dress is sexy and definitely ready to party. To complete the look add contrasting coloured platform peep-toes and lots of jewellery.

Was: £90, now £45.

Sixties mods

Colour, micro-minis, loose tunics and shift dresses totally dominated the 1960s which saw an Op Art influence channelled into vibrant but neatly tailored designs. The 1960s trend in 2011/12 builds upon the foundations laid by the original. One of the best dresses from Warehouse for this trend is the Lace Embellished Daisy Shift Dress. From its mustard colour and elbow-length sleeves to lace overlay and rounded neckline, this dress is absolutely spot on with 1960s’ fashion. Team it with some coloured tights, preferably in a contrasting colour, some loafers and a pea coat and you might as well have stepped back in time to 1965.

Was: £75, now £35.
